Filed under: Blogroll — MRE Masters Report @ 8:33 am

American Airlines is the first airline to begin offering Aircell internet service on many flights. Delta announced last month that it will start offering the service soon as well.

In a report published by the Denver Business Journal, American has announced that Gogo service will be offered on its Boeing 767-200 aircraft after the plane reaches 10,000 feet. The service will cost $12.95 on flights lasting more than three hours. The article did not say what charges might be for shorter flights, or even if the service would be available.

Delta says it expects to have more than 330 aircaft updated with Wi-Fi service by next summer.

New Housing Bill provisions are detailed by NAR

Filed under: Real Estate News — MRE Masters Report @ 9:22 am

NAR has posted information on key points of the “Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008″ posted online (link to information is below) for members. Many are wondering what the immediate effects of the bill are and how they might be able to use some of the provisions.

While many of the bills reform measures do not take effect until 2009, a couple of key points are already in place or will become active in 2008.

The widely touted homebuyer tax credit of $7500 is available for those who qualify on their purchase if the purchase is made between April 9th, 2008 and June 30th, 2009. This provision is similar to an interest free loan that is repayable over a 15 year term.

The FHA foreclosure rescue program is set to open in October. This provision allows FHA to refinance qualified borrowers who have problematic subprime loans to new 90% LTV 30-year fixed FHA loans. VA loan limits are also temporarily increased through 2008.

National Licensing and oversight

Filed under: Real Estate News — MRE Masters Report @ 9:00 am

Residential Loan originators could become licensed at a national level if The Secure and Fair Enforcement in Mortgage Licensing (SAFE) act is signed into law. The act is inteded to eliminate bad actors from the lending industry by requiring loan originators to meet minimum national standards that would ensure the lenders are professional, competent and trustworthy.

The bill also includes strict standards governing FHA backed loans (part of the Hope for Homeowners measure). This would create additional guidelines for appraisers who are working on FHA backed appraisal loans. Click here for more information.
